All about the Alliums

That's Alliums (as in the plant/flowers) not Aliens, just to be clear, and they seem to be popping up everywhere in my borders at the moment.

Allium is a genus of monocotyledonous flowering plants that includes hundreds of species, including the cultivated onion, garlic, scallion, shallot, leek, and chives.

The generic name Allium is the Latin word for garlic, and the type species for the genus is Allium sativum which means "cultivated garlic".......every days a school day!

Beautiful blooming balls of white and purple, the bees love them and they definitely seem to be a hit with my pet Yorkie Lotti too.
